Prior to PhonepayPlus, Mark was the Project Manager for the Home Office’s Strategy for a Healthy Police Service, a project which reduced police sickness absence by 28% nationwide over 3 years, an estimated efficiency saving of around £300m.

Prior to joining Ericsson in 2000, Tim Cuthbert worked as a consultant within the IT community, giving him a comprehensive understanding, and constructive experience, of both technical and commercial aspects of the industry.

At Ericsson Tim has held various strategic positions within the company. He started his Ericsson career within IP network design, for GPRS/3G networks, and later led the integration’s team for delivery. His experience has given him a unique insight into the needs and challenges facing Content Providers and Network Operators.  Tim has also influenced the detail of the technical and commercial issues involved in the rapidly evolving world of digital mobile content.


Matt Jones

Guillaume Peersman is the managing director of international mobile specialist Dialogue Communications. He has worked for the company for over 10 years and today is a highly respected figure in the mobile industry and one of its key speakers.

Guillaume’s start in the telecoms industry came whilst he was a student studying in Paris. Guillaume graduated from the Institut Superieur D’Electronique de Paris (ISEP) in 1996 with a double M.Eng in electronics and computer networks. He then joined the University of Sheffield Computer Science Department and started a PhD sponsored by Dialogue Communications.

Guillaume’s research focus was on mobile network technologies and his research interest focus turned to the design, development and performance analysis of two way messaging gateways for the GSM Short Message Service (SMS).

In 1998, the gateway design was implemented by Dialogue Communications to launch the UK’s first commercial email to SMS service for Vodafone UK and has been published in a number of journals and conferences. The gateway architecture has been at the core of Dialogue’s messaging technology ever since and been scaled over the years to handle some of the largest text messaging events in the UK.

In 1999, Guillaume designed and set up Dialogue’s technical architecture as the company evolved into an Internet-based service provider for messaging services. In 2000, his field of research was extended to cover the emerging Wireless Application Protocol (WAP). Dialogue Communications soon launched the world first access to email via WAP.

As Dialogue expanded to provide services to an increasing number of customers, Guillaume helped to organise and setup the development and operational team. In 2003, Guillaume was awarded the PhD and took on the role of technical director - managing the development team, setting the guidelines for architecture and implementation and facilitating the introduction of new technologies.

In 2005, he increased his involvement with the commercial side of the business, providing technical consultancy to the sales and support team and managing the relationship with mobile operators. Following this progression, in August 2007 he was appointed as managing director of the company. Since then, he has been a key speaker at many mobile industry events around the world, sharing his valuable technical and industry knowledge that he has gained over the past 10 years.

Jeremy is a professional marketer with an extensive career that has involved many of the leading companies in the UK. His client experience includes  Marketing Manager at Tesco and Head of Affinity Marketing at BT. He followed this with a move to Coca-Cola as European Promotions Director, where he was involved in the coordination of plans for Euro2000, the Olympics, internet projects including Coke Auction and the overall promotional strategy for the business.

This was followed by a move to COLT Telecom as Group Marcomms Director before setting up in 2002, PromoVeritas Ltd, as the UK's first  dedicated and independent promotional verification company. Working with most of the leading sales promotion agencies and clients in this country and in Europe, the company provides the security and integrity for all sorts of voting, competitions, prize draws and valuable "golden ticket" type instant win promotions. Recent projects include BBC Sports Personality of the Year, Eurovision Song Contest, Coca Cola Buy A Player, McVities 10,000 Instant winners and end to end process audits for a group of 20+ radio stations. He is passionate about ensuring the integrity of client projects and protecting the confidence of the consumer.

In addition to his work, Jeremy is a Board member of AIME, the Association for Interactive and Mobile Entertainment, and represented the UK on the Promotional Marketing Council of Europe between 2001 and 2006, latterly as Vice President.

He is currently a Board member of CAP, the governing body of the UK advertising industry and is a founding trustee of Fresh Visions, a charity for the disadvantaged and Urban Renewal in the South East and also the National Osteoporosis Society.

He is married to Denise, a cookery writer and lives in Northwood, North West London with a gaggle of children aged 12 -18 .

Catherine Becker is deputy MD of Radar, a division of AdConnection, in London, the leading agency in mobile entertainment media in the UK. 

In 2007 AdConnection was named as one of the Sunday Times Fastrack fastest growing companies in the UK, the only media or advertising company to do so.  It has achieved this through developing new methodologies and tools to understand what media works for our mobile, entertainment and telecoms clients. 

Radar have been an earlier adopter of online and mobile advertising opportunities to drive improved sales for our clients. 

Catherine has been in the media industry for 20 years, working at leading advertising agencies JWT, Y&R and ZenithOptimedia.  She has spoken at numerous conferences and won media awards including recently winning the Campaign Media Award.

She graduated in Marketing at the University of Lancaster, UK and University of Boulder, Colorado, USA.

David Jarvis brings many years of experience to his new role at Cherry Media.  David was a new media pioneer in Australasia, forming some of the very first consumer entertainment as well as B2B publishing and information broadband portals for the Internet.

After moving to Europe, David was part of the start-up Pan European management team for the Vodafone and Vivendi Universal mobile entertainment portal Vizzavi (re-established as Vodafone Live!). He was also behind Txtbomb; one of the world's first SMS entertainment, marketing and content management companies for consumer brands like Universal Music before joining Private Media Group in Barcelona where he pioneered the very first global movements of adult content onto emerging mobile devices as far back as 2001.

Josep licensed in Economics at Barcelona University where he later studied a post-graduate degree in Auditing and Accountancy. After leaving University he acquired a few years experience working as an auditor in KPMG Peat Marwick. In 1995, Josep left KPMG to establish the first 'Internet Service Provider' in Spain. Together with partners, they grew the business in Spain and Latin America, then integrated it into a multinational group ‘Tiscali’. Josep remained within the group as Spanish CEO until the company was floated.

Later, he moved into the TV industry and founded a TV channel specifically servicing the Madrid and Barcelona undergrounds stations and airports. Then, together with the biggest Spanish owned TV production company, they founded one of the first interactive TV companies in Spain.

In 2001 - as a part of the interactive TV project - Josep started Arena Mobile with the goal of developing a new media company where internet and television could one day converge and help develop the “always on” culture.

Sally joined the Internet service provider PIPEX in 1995 shortly after qualifying as a lawyer. During this time Sally aided the development of the PIPEX business throughout Europe and became European Legal Director following the acquisition of the business by UUNET and later Director of International Regulatory Affairs. In 1997, she was voted 'UK In-house lawyer of the Year'.

In the late 1990s Sally played an integral role in the internet regulatory environment as a founding director of the UK Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA (UK)), the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), and ICRA and acted as consultant to the European Commission on the Electronic Commerce Directive. After leaving UUNET in 2001, Sally became Legal Director for RAW Communications before setting up her own IT legal consultancy, Strategic Brief. Three years later Sally joined WIN as Head of Legal where she is now Commercial Director.

Laura Marriott is the president for the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA), where she is responsible for leading the association in its charter to drive the adoption of mobile marketing while ensuring consumer privacy and brand integrity. The MMA is an action-oriented association designed to clear obstacles to market development, to establish standards and best practices for sustainable growth, and to evangelize the mobile channel for use by brands and third party content providers.

In her role as president, Marriott directs all activities and communications for the global association to the more than 450 world-wide members, representing over forty countries and some of the world’s most recognized brands. With more than sixteen years of experience in the high-tech industry in the areas of business development, product management and marketing, Marriott has a proven track record of leadership, dedication and the ability to create and execute on programs with measurable results.

Marriott is currently the Colorado chapter host for MoMeMo.

Prior to joining the MMA, she served as Director of Marketing for Intrado, where she was responsible for marketing the company’s mobility products and services. Marriott has also previously served as director of business development at Cyneta Networks and Cell-Loc Inc. Marriott graduated from the University of Alberta.

Patrick startedworking for Ministry of Sound in 2004 as a content and portal manager, moving on to operations manager and since January 2007 he has been head of thecompany's mobile arm.

Patrick manages the launch of new branded mobile channels and WAP sites for the company as well as having a specific focus on new business development with partners both on and off portal.

Patrick moved from Hollandto London in 1999 where he completed his BA in business studies, specialising in the marketing aspects of the business environment at Guildhall University. Patrick's dissertation on "The Behavioural Intention Modelfor the Purchase of MP3's on the Internet" won him a prestigious 'Worshipful Company of Marketers' award in 2002.

Patrick has also worked at Sony BMG and from time to time still DJs at various clubs around the world.

James is responsible for new business activity across both etv’s core business of branded content as well as interactive projects. He most recently played an integral role in securing a partnership with Turner Broadcasting to produce cross-platform channel, Nuts TV.

James manages a business development team who is focused on delivering interactive video-based content for brands and broadcasters across all mediums as well as the etv marketing and communications function. In June 2006, James was appointed to the etv board in recognition of his outstanding individual contribution to the company.

James joined etv from interactive TV company DITG, where he was Sales Director since 2001. While there, James provided the driving force to secure contracts with leading broadcasters such as UKTV, Five, C4, Zip TV and Disney.

James has over 15 years experience of marketing and business development, predominantly in the broadcast and new media industries. Before joining DITG, he was content director at BT Openworld, focusing on youth content initiatives for touchphone kiosks, broadband and the BT video-on-demand trial. In addition, Penfold spent time working on BT’s pre-cursor to BIB/Open…
